I missed the boat when I was doing Late Night.
I don't get offered many dramatic roles. As soon as my face pops up in a movie, everyone knows I'm the funny guy.
I think the whole idea of me was that I wasn't going to be but that I wanted to be, desperately.
Somehow, by just continually pestering the general public by appearing on television, they accepted me and wanted more.
But I don't think I was ever destined to be a big star.

Probably the most fun I've ever had, actually, acting. Because it was the perfect extension of the stuff that I'd started to do on Late Night With David Letterman, and when I look back on all my work, it was probably the best possible incarnation of Chris Elliott, of me.Collection: Fun
I haven't really auditioned much in my career. I've been lucky in terms of the feature work; it's mostly been people that have been fans of mine that have called and said "We have this part, do you want to do it?" That kind of thing.
